Metro Voice is a Leader
in the Community
Metro Voice Newspaper is owned by Widaman Communications,
Inc. based in Lee's Summit, Missouri. Widaman Communications
has published (and since sold) other newspapers in the past
including the Independence Weekly, the Consumer AdVantage
Shopper and the Lee's Summit Tribune. The Lee's Summit Tribune
was a popular full-color broadsheet delivered to 25,000
homes and has been purchased by the Knight-Ridder newspaper
group-parent company of the Kansas City Star.
Metro Voice doesn't stop at producing news and information
for a newspaper and on-line publication. Metro Voice has
become a leader in the faith community during the last 15
years by working with dozens of denominations, suburban
and inner-city churches, local and national organizations,
national advertising agencies, and countless individuals,
all with one goal in mind-to serve the Faith-based Community
with integrity, quality and dedication. Metro Voice was
recently asked by Jewish representatives to help the local
Jewish community promote an inter-faith rally in support
of the nation of Israel. The rally drew over 4000 people
and created an excellent forum for Jews and Christians to
work together for a common cause.
Beginning in 1999, Metro Voice organized and sponsored
the annual education expo devoted to three elements of Christian
education: Homeschooling, Private K-12 Education, and College/Seminary
Education. Since that first event, the Midwest Christian
Education and College Expo has grown to attract over 3000
parents and students. The expo draws 40 colleges from 10
states, 50 local Christian elementary and secondary schools,
the largest homeschool organizations from several states
and dozens of curriculum providers from across the Midwest.
The goal of the expo is to provide "one-stop shopping"
for parents searching for answers to their children's educational
needs. In addition to the expo, Metro Voice prints and distributes
30,000 copies of the annual Christian Education Guide and
Resource Directory to parents and students from across the
region. The expo receives national, as well as local, attention
and attracts six radio stations who broadcast live from
the fair as well as features on the evening news.
Metro Voice publishes the wonderful Holiday Memories Book
which is distributed free-of-charge to over 30,000 individuals.
The book features the history of our modern day Christmas
celebration, fun games for kids, recipes, favorite Christmas
carols and their origins and other fun information. Metro
Voice works in conjunction with a popular Christian radio
station to sponsor prize drawings.
Metro Voice on the Radio
Metro Voice has had its own its own radio
presence since May 2000 with the popular "Metro Voice
News Hour" radio program. This weekly news and public
affairs program is hosted by publisher Dwight Widaman and
features interviews of newsmakers including state and national
law makers, ministry leaders, book authors and movie producers
and others in a position of influence in our communities,
churches and ministries. Metro Voice News Hour is now syndicated
on two local stations (KCWJ and KEXS) with plans to expand.
Dwight has been a regular guest over the years on numerous
radio and TV stations and has been featured prominently
in the pages of the Kansas City Star.
